Weed Warrior Service Project

Posted on Mar 31 2015 - 9:17am

Hello, I am Liam Fahey, the SPL for weed warriors, and on Saturday March 25, me and about 21 other scouts embarked on a mission to kill all the weeds at star ranch. At first it looked bleak, but by the end we had eliminated almost every weed in the area. The evil weeds will never dare step foot on that land again for fear they will be ripped out of the ground.

1938 — Ranch donated to Scouts

Tulsa oilman Waite Phillips and his wife donated a 35,857-acre tract in New Mexico to the Boy Scouts because of his “great faith” in the Scout movement. “I love the outdoors and nature,” Phillips said. “I have received a lot of benefit in my lifetime from the open-air life. And I want to make it possible for at least a part of these 1,200,000 Boy Scouts to share the joys I have known.” He later donated more land, bringing the total to 127,395 acres.

American Cultures Merit Badge

Posted on Jun 11 2014 - 1:28pm

Before we head back to school in September, Mr. Rogers will be offering the scouts in the troop a chance to earn American Cultures merit badge. Scouts should read the merit badge book completely and do their research on three (3) racial, cultural, national or ethnic groups ahead of time. They should be prepared to discuss their chosen groups in depth and lead the discussion in requirement #5. Any documentation should be brought with them the day of the event. Scouts should make sure they get their blue cards ahead of time as he will not be providing them the day of the event.
