About Us

Troop 636 is located in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Our troop is active in many high adventure activities as well as family based outings. We participate in rock climbing, High Sierra hiking, local hiking and camping. We have usually have at least one week long summer camps, and multiple backpacking trips while school is out.

Troop 636 is ideal for new Scouts working on their First Class Emphasis. The troop has local campouts with activities targeted for Scouts working on First Class Emphasis. Troop 636 is focused on a youth run troop philosophy. Activities are planned and run by the "Scout Leadership". The adult leaders assist the scouts in the running of the troop when needed. The troop serves the scouts as a road to leadership and responsibility.

We are very proud of our achievements in the 28 years of our existence. We have over 165 Eagle Scouts and have many past Eagle Scouts serving as adult leaders. Welcome to all bridging Webelos Scouts. We are expecting a new batch of Webelos and look forward to helping them make the transition from Cubs to Scouts go smoothly. Older Scouts lend a hand, new Scouts learn from them.

Some of our yearly highlights are Rock Climbing in Joshua Tree, White Water Rafting, and a High Sierra 50 miler backpack. We participate in trail-building with the forestry service and have our own Trail Boss. We have an annual "Rocket Launch" weekend that is coordinated with Space Exploration merit badge.
